Biographical Sketch
Ilpo Vattulainen has in time shifted his research profile from applied mathematics to condensed matter surface physics and further to soft matter and biological physics. His present research activity aims to unravel intriguing questions in biosystems using the toolboxes of statistical mechanics and multi-scale simulations. In the field of biophysics, a great deal of effort is invested for understanding the interplay between lipids and proteins, drugs, sugars, alcohol, nicotine, and many other appealing molecules. |
