Dear CUG Members,
The Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is pleased to be selected as the CUG site to host CUG SUMMIT 2001. JPL is one of the ten major National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Centers funded by the United States government. JPL is managed for NASA by the California Institute of Technology and is the leading center in the United States for robotic exploration of the solar system. JPL spacecraft have visited all known planets except Pluto. Currently a Pluto mission is under study for the early part of the next decade. In addition, JPL manages the worldwide Deep Space Network which communicates with spacecraft and conducts scientific investigations from its complexes in California's Mojave Desert near Goldstone; near Madrid, Spain; and near Canberra, Australia. JPL's main 72-hectare (177 acre) site is at the foot of the San Gabriel Mountains near Pasadena, California and 19 kilometers (12 miles) southeast of Los Angeles.
JPL is honored to be your host for CUG SUMMIT 2001 and we know you will enjoy the outstanding technical program offered by CUG as well as the wonderful warm southern California weather.
