SIGs will hold meetings on Tuesday and Friday afternoons that are open to all interested CUG attendees. They provide a forum to become acquainted with other CUG sites which share your interests and to discuss the future direction of the SIG, important issues, and talks of special interest. You are encouraged to attend any of these open meetings.
Interactive Sessions on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday each provide a forum for interaction between CUG and SGI or Cray Inc. with more time than a Parallel Technical Session and more focus than a General Session.
The Program Committee needs your ideas! There is no Open Program Committee meeting scheduled for this conference. Nonetheless, we urge you to share your suggestions of how to improve the conference with the CUG Vice President. The CUG Conference Program is the net result of the combined efforts of all interested CUG sites. You can make a unique contribution to the next CUG conference!
We will introduce the CUG Advisory Council members and discuss the path CUG should take over the next several years and the steps needed to accomplish our goals. All attendees are invited to participate.
Supercomputers generate data that, via scientific visualization, can be transformed into pictures that provide a way for scientists to understand the information more fully and quickly. Although the primary purpose of visualization is to facilitate the discovery process, scientists are increasingly coming to rely on it also to present their research conclusions. This Tuesday afternoon session showcases the latest in scientific/ engineering visualization. Bring your supercomputing visualization videos to share with the audience! Contributors are reminded to please contact the Visualization Focus Chair, John Clyne (clyne@ncar.ucar.edu) by Monday, May 6th.
SGI will demonstrate for the first time the new CXFS Version 2, with a MultiOS cluster comprised of CXFS for IRIX, and clients for Solaris, and Windows NT. The demonstration will be available during breaks and lunch in the Great Hall.
Please turn off your cell phone and/or pager during conference sessions.
All photograph, video recording and audio recording are forbidden, except with prior written permission from the Program Chair.
Smoking is not allowed in the Town Hall.
We always anticipate there will be some changes to the Program schedule. Check the Bulletin Boards on site at the conference each day for schedule changes. Thank you for your patience and cooperation.
